Priscilla Anne « Bunnie » McCloy
With great sadness, the family of Priscilla “Bunnie” McCloy (nee Holmes a’ Court) announce her passing on January 23, 2018, 28 days short of her 101st birthday. She was born to Capt. W.A.R. Holmes a’ Court and Priscilla Holmes a’ Court (nee Gray) on February 20, 1917 in Bosham, Sussex, England. The family moved to Red Deer Hill, SK in 1919 and she could remember the trip until she died. In 1928 the family moved to Prince Albert. She attended school in Red Deer Hill, then King George and PACI. After she completed high school, she furthered her education at Success Business College in P.A. in 1938 she started her job at the law firm of Diefenbaker and Cuelenaere. In January of 1942, Mr. Diefenbaker asked her to go to the House of Commons as his private secretary. She did not return to Ottawa in 1943 as both of her brothers had gone to war. She continued to work at the law firm until she got married. In 1948 she married Herbert S. McCloy and moved to the family farm in the Colleston District, where she lived for the rest of her life. Priscilla was a member of the PA Chapter of Eastern Star for nearly 70 years, something she truly treasured. She was active in the East Central Home and School, the United Church Women’s Association, Sask. Women’s Institute, serving a three year terms as Provincial Director. She was also involved in other community groups, including serving as secretary of Colleston United Church for many years. Priscilla will always be remembered for her amazing memory and fantastic cooking. You couldn’t enter her home without being offered anything from a snack to a full course meal. Left to mourn Priscilla are her family, her three sons, Boyd (Elaine), Russell (Jaydeen), James (Sherri); her daughter, Connie (Kent) Walters; her grandchildren, Jaret (Chantelle), Jason (Carrie), Shane (Shalaine), Bethany (Jordan), Mary, Arliss, Sara, William J.R., Ben (Becky), Ryan (Rebecca), Kristin (Tim) Alcock, Matthew (Milan) Walters, Brock (Hailey) Walters, Amy (Aaron) Soloski; her great grandchildren, Sean, Colton, Rylan, Brayden, Ryley, Grayson, Austin, Dawn Marie, Same, Kyley, Kelsy, Seth, Ziva, Ezra, Amber, Shaelin, Ethan, Nathan, Jacob, Emily, Connor and Carl; her sister-in-law, Rubena Wenzel; along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, W.A.R. and Priscilla Holmes a’ Court; her husband of 52 years, Herbert S. McCloy; her brothers, W.C. “Bill” (Elizabeth) Holmes a’ Court, W.A. “Wally” Holmes a’ Court; her in-laws, S.B. “Sam” McCloy and France McCloy, Tom and Isabel McCloy, Leslie and Jean Woodhouse, Ernie Wenzel; her granddaughter-in-law, Sebrena McCloy; and a great grandson Carson McCloy. Priscilla will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, including the birds that came to her feeders. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at River Park Chapel, Rev. Dr. Tony Thompson will be officiating. A special thank you to Dr. Surkan, Home Care, and staff on level 5 at Victoria Hospital. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Colleston United Church.
