Phyllis Joan McRae
1937-2018
With broken hearts, the family of Phyllis Joan (Queen) McRae,
of Grand Bay-Westfield, wife of the late Frederick (Fred) G. McRae,
announce her passing on August 12, 2018. Born March 26, 1937 at Oak
Point, NB, she was one of three daughters of the late Len and Ruth
Queen (originally from Armstrong’s Corner).
Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred, of 61
years only seven months ago on January 15, 2018. They were always
together and now are back together again. Phyllis always put others
before herself. She enjoyed knitting, having knit many sweaters for
family and friends as well as children’s sweaters for the
City Market and for the cruise ship seasons. Phyllis was an Avon
representative for many years in the Grand Bay Area. She enjoyed
camping with family and friends, reading and doing puzzles, and was
always willing to help anyone in need.
Phyllis is survived by two sons: Fred (Debbie) MacRae of
Rothesay, NB and Kevin (Kate) MacRae of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; and a
daughter Sue (Roly) Palmer of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; as well as two
grandsons: Tom (Katie Slater) MacRae and Greg (Kristina) MacRae and
their children (Zack, Josh, Isabella, Danika, Jebediah and Alaska);
two step-granddaughters: Carol (Ed) DeSaulniers and their children
(Kimberley, Eddie, Cassie, Jamie and Riley) and Sharon
McKay.
Phyllis is also survived by sisters: Marion (the late Ralph)
Mersereau, and Donna (the late Charlie) Ross, along with several
nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by sisters-in-law:
Bertha (the late Alden) Winott, Phyllis (the late Gordon) Tuplin,
Marjorie McRae and Marie (the late Charlie) McRae, and brother-in-law
Ron (Pauline) McRae. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law: Earl
McRae (Italy WWII), John (Elsie) McRae, Walter (Sandra) McRae and
sisters-in-law: Marion (Erland) Winters and Kathleen (Fred)
Heaton.
Phyllis attended Grand Bay Baptist Church for several years.
She also enjoyed watching Souls Harbour church service and the Bill
Gaither Gospel Hour.

Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB

from 6-8 PM and Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The
funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on
Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 9:30 AM. Interment will take place at
Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to
