Obituary for
Peter Murphy
PETER LEO MURPHY
1970 – 2017
Peter Murphy, resident of Grand Prairie, formerly of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 in Grande Prairie, AB at the age of 47 years.
Peter was born November 3, 1970 in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. He grew up in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and Churchill Falls, NL. He was a purebred Newfoundlander and proud of it.
Peter was a Journeyman Welder, but he worked as a Safety Consultant. A “by the book”, “straight as an arrow” man, honesty was something he lived by. He was admired for his silly sense of humor.
He loved “Big Red”, his prized possession, and working on that truck was a labour of love. Peter enjoyed watching hockey, a Coors Light, a cigarette and fishing. He loved to watch his kids play sports.
Peter will be sadly missed by his children Ian Murphy and Emma Murphy; the mother of his children Claudelle Murphy; parents: Leo and Anne Murphy, siblings: James (Irene) Murphy, Helen (Paul) Harris, Neil (Tina) Murphy; aunts: Colleen (Bill) Crawley, Geraldine Griffin, Mary (Bill) Hayward, Diana Curran, Mary Murphy, Clare Murphy, Ruth Sullivan; uncle Joe (Darlene) Sullivan and special friend Peter Noseworthy.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, AB.
There will be a funeral mass held at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
There will be no visitation.
The interment will be announced at a later date.
The family extend sincere thanks to all who sent condolences.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
