LAWSON, Peter Francis Joseph December 31, 1934 – March 8, 2018 With great sorrow we announce that Peter passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 8, 2018 in her 83rd year. Beloved husband and soulmate of Dawn Lawson (née Laxson) for over six decades; proud and loving father to Susan (Darrell Ramsay), Stephen (Huguette Grandjean) and Donna; inspiring grandfather to Stéphanie Gauthier (Samuel Aumond) and Nicholas Gauthier; devoted great-grandfather to Brittany Gauthier and Camille Aumond. Predeceased by his siblings Joy (Donald Malone), Donald (Phyllis Le Bouthillier) and Marilyn (Richard Trottier). Peter is survived by his sisters Claudia (André Laplante) and Heather (John Blackburn, deceased) as well as a large extended family and many friends. Peter had a lengthy career at The Montreal Gazette and played on their teams of hockey as a goalie and softball as a catcher. He also enjoyed league bowling with his buddies. While at The Montreal Gazette, Peter worked hard to raise funds for many charitable groups including the Gazette Christmas Fund and the Old Brewery Mission and was an important organizer of the Employee’s Children’s Christmas Parties. As a member of the Kirkland 55+ Club for many years, Peter continued his charitable work for 16 years collecting food items and clothing for the Old Brewery Mission. He was also in charge of collecting for the 50/50 on Bingo nights as well as for many other games. On his own, he loved to putter around the yard and gardens of his home and liked to fix things. Peter also enjoyed travelling to Europe, Florida, Las Vegas, Plattsburgh, going to the beach in the summer and, would often enjoy sitting with his « chummy » by the waterfront in Pointe-Claire. Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White, 222 Highway 20 in Pointe-Claire. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Saint-Edmund of Canterbury Church, 105 Beaconsfield Boulevard, Beaconsfield, immediately followed by his final resting place at the Jardin Du Souvenir Cemetery (St-Joachim Parish) on Saint-Jean Boulevard in Point-Claire. A reception at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Montreal Old Brewery Mission would be greatly appreciated.
