With immense sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father. Surrounded by his loving family, Peter passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener at the age of 74.
Peter became ill in late June and within weeks succumbed to a very aggressive form of cancer. Missed by his wife Laurie “the love of my life” and his six children: Murray, Daniel (Elaine), Julie (Joseph), Lisa (Scott), Andrew and Kathleen. Peter is also survived by his five grandchildren: Mackenzie, Wesley, Eli, Abby and Ruby.
Peter was a retired school teacher with the WCSSB. Although always a busy musician during his teaching years
leading choirs and singing at various locations throughout the area, singing and playing his 12 string guitar became his next full time ‘gig’ after his retirement. At the time of his passing, Peter had played at over 280 nursing and retirement homes throughout Southwestern Ontario.
Visitation will take place at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. On Saturday, September 1, 2018 there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church at 745 Duke Street in Cambridge at 10 am. Lunch and a celebration of Peter’s life to follow in the Church hall.
The family wish to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful nurses at Grand River Hospital as well as the
exceptional staff at Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener. Donations in lieu of flowers to those two organizations would be appreciated by the family.
