Jollimore, Perry Dean – 73, of River John, Nova Scotia passed away surrounded by family on August 29, 2018 at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital. Perry was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia to Seaforth and Mary Jollimore who raised him in River John along with his sister Ruth (Vic) Preston and brothers Warren (Janice) Jollimore and Arthur (Maxine) Jollimore. After a stint at West Pictou District High School, Perry attended trade school before entering the workforce. In the mid-sixties, Perry moved to Toronto where his moves on the dance floor proved irresistible to the girl of his dreams and soon to be wife, Marty Jollimore. For the next decade or so, Perry worked as a Parts Rep at Birchmount Dodge while he and Marty raised their three children; Michael (Lisa) Jollimore, Candace (James) Pountney and Shane Jollimore. In 1978, the call of the East Coast proved too strong and Perry moved the whole crew to River John. Being in the romance capital of Pictou County, it wasn’t long until the family expanded with the addition of another son, Rob (Karlie) Jollimore. With the family complete, Perry resumed his career in the trades, fixing whatever needed to be fixed and passing those skills onto his children and grandchildren. Through his work as a contractor/handyman Perry became a trusted advisor and in many cases a friend to his customers. During this time Perry also applied his knowledge of the trades to building the family home, which to Marty’s chagrin, is still a work in progress 40 years later. One reason Perry couldn’t seem to finish jobs around the house was his inability to say no when friends and family needed a helping hand. From early mornings at the rink with Mike, teaching Candace’s boys how to drive, helping Shane work on an old vehicle or make hay at the farm to picking Rob up from a night in the drunk tank, he was always there to help with practically no judgement. Another reason was his enjoyment of sharing coffee and a good story with his friends at the Liar’s Bench where he never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Perry will be dearly missed by his family, including his grandchildren, Brett, Keiran, Lily, Everleigh and Kingston. A special thank you to the staff of the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital and the Willow Lodge for their loving care of Perry, as well as to all those who spent time with him over the last few weeks. A gathering will be held at the family home starting at 2:00 pm on Saturday September 8th, to celebrate Perry’s life. There will be food and drink as per Perry’s request. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you buy a case of beer and share it with someone over your fondest memories of Perry. Any monetary donations can be made to the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital or the Willow Lodge. Online condolences can be forwarded to the family by visiting Coulter’s Funeral Home Website at: www.mmcfunerals.com
