Pauline Jean Haynes
September 25, 1923 – July 20, 2018
Born September 25, 1923, passed away at home after a short illness on Friday July 20. Wife of the late Colonel J Gordon Haynes, and mother to John (Kathryn) of Picton and the late Jane; Polly was a beloved grandmother to Paula Jane (Nicole) of Gananoque, Sarah of Kingston, Leah O’Reilly (Terry) of Ottawa, Dan of Toronto, and Matt (Ashley) of Gatineau, PQ. She was also a great-grandmother to India, Everley, and Venus; and a great-great grandmother to Violet. Polly is also survived by her much-loved brother, Ernie McMullan of Toronto.
A special thank you to all the personal care workers without whom we could not have kept Polly at home where she wanted to be. You were angels.
As the matriarch of our family, Granny will be sorely missed, but we take some comfort in the fact that she is at rest and now reunited with Gordie and Jane. Her ashes will be buried in Cherry Valley beside them by John, quietly and without ceremony, as she requested. We will never forget her.
