Paul Russell Porter
The family of Paul Russell Porter announces that he was ushered into the presence of His Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.
Paul was born in Meductic on June 17, 1924, the son of the late Wilds and Inez (Durling) Porter. Paul was a top pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force and saw duty in Britain during the Second World War as a staff sergeant.
Paul worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad for a few years, then served as a Customs officer with Canada Customs in both Woodstock and Bloomfield ports.
Besides his parents, Paul was pre-deceased by his son, P. Steven Porter, two brothers, George and Clayton, one sister, Velma, and son-in-law Vondel Allen. Brother –in-law Arthur Stewart.
Paul is survived by his wife of 73 years, Thelma (Harrington), and five children: daughter Paula (Allen) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Alan & wife Elizabeth (Bredin) of Woodstock, daughter Myrna (Smith) of Ottawa, daughter Lona & Ed (Piamonte) of Ottawa, and son Peter & wife Giryl of Woodstock. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, as well as one sister, Clara Stewart of Fredericton.
Friends are invited to a time of sharing memories with the family at The Culberson Funeral Home, 188 Connell Street, Woodstock, NB on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 4-6 pm.
Memorial service to be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm from The Culberson Memorial Chapel with son Pastor Alan Porter officiating. Interment will follow at the Upper Meductic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allan Paul Porter, Matthew Piamonte, Peter Allen, Robin Smith, Blaine Durling, Michael MacIlroy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Belleville Baptist Church or New Brunswick Bible Institute.
