Patrick Stanley Barbour
Pat, of Dalhousie (NB), passed away peacefully at the Campbellton Hospital, on Thursday, January 18, 2018, with Mark, Ginny, Richard, and Darren by his side. He passed after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer. He displayed the Fighting Irish Spirit in the truest sense of the word!
Pat was well known for his love of his children, family, friends and his pets. He was also known to many as a passionate teacher of 40 years, a guidance counselor, a mentor, a coach and a proud philanthropist in the community. He had a big heart, and was always making those around him laugh. He was well known for his sarcastic (but truthful) sense of humour, and his love of animals, and for being an exceptional educator. He enjoyed spending time in his home and garden, his pride and joy.
Although he will be greatly missed by those who knew him, Pat does ask that we celebrate his passion for life and honour him with a dram of Irish Whiskey. He was a very intelligent, witty, happy and gentle man who brought much lifelong wisdom to everyone with whom he touched.
Pat is survived by his son Mark (Ginny Manzer), his sister, Cameron, his brothers: Richard, Johnny (Theresa), Bernard and Brian, his six nieces: Johanne Caron, Patricia Gallant (nee Caron), Lori Baker (nee Barbour), Lise Caron, Susan Barbour and Heather MacLean (nee Taylor), five nephews: Michel Caron, Daniel Taylor, Troy Barbour, Dale Barbour and Andrew Barbour; and his close and dear friends: Darren and Tammy Oakes and Rob St. Aubin. He also held a special place in his heart for Brady and Bailey, the sons of Darren and Tammy.
He is predeceased by his parents Richard and Bernetta Barbour (nee Harris), his son Justin, his sister Catherine Caron (Roger), brother-in-law Richard Taylor and sister-in-laws Nancy Barbour (nee Tower) and Penny Barbour (nee Quigley).
At his request, there will be no visitation; however, you are invited to celebrate his life at the St. John Bosco Church, in Dalhousie on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 11 o’clock. Everyone is invited to an Irish reception after the service in honour of Pat. To be held at the Dalhousie Lions Club located at 410 Adelaide St., Dalhousie, NB.
There will be a private burial service, graveside in the summer of 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Restigouche County (Dalhousie) SPCA can be made in his honour.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
