OBITUARY
Patricia « Patty » June Johnstone
June 14, 1926 – August 27, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the gentle passing of Patty Johnstone on Monday, August 27 at Riverview Health Centre.
Patty was predeceased by her husband Astor Johnstone in 2010, her sister Lorraine (Lainy) Rubin in 2016, her sister-in-law Lois Black in 2018, and her first husband Thomas Coulter Robinson in 1958. She is survived by her brother Jeff Black, brother-in-law Dr. Leon Rubin; daughter Paula Robinson, son Tom Robinson (Connie); and stepsons Jerry Johnstone (Jan) and Wayne Johnstone (Donna decd.). A loving grandma and auntie, Pat will be missed by her grandchildren Casey Robinson, Cheryl Johnstone and Dean Johnstone (Nicole) and her extended clan of nieces, nephews and their families; and long-time friend, Joann MacMorran.
At 92, Patty lived a full life that was always centred around family. Widowed at an early age, she became a working mom with two small children. Patty met this challenge with the love and support of her Mother and caring family and friends. After working for a number of years, Patty returned to school, becoming a Library Technician, all the while caring for her family.
Patty was artistic with a deep appreciation for beauty that she expressed through her painting, stitchery, gardening, and cooking — always with a good book at hand and a few rescue cats underfoot.
Her marriage to Astor, with his love and devotion, also brought the love of his family and friends. He was a wonderful man who brought immense happiness to her life.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
Our mom had a strong love of animals and in lieu of flowers, if you are interested, a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, in her name would be appreciated.
