Patricia Shalansky
Patricia’s life of adversity ended Wednesday, September 26th when she died from a lingering struggle with cancer.
Patricia’s first challenge was at the age of 18 months when she suffered a medical issue that left her developmentally challenged. She lived with that result for 69 years, but in November of 2017 she was struck another blow, being diagnosed with untreatable cancer.
Pat was hospitalized in December of that year and then transferred to St. Joseph’s Nursing Home as a palliative patient, where her journey of many months came to a merciful end. Through her illness Pat’s greatest sorrow was that she would not be able to travel anymore because of her illness.
Pat was predeceased by her father and mother. Having never been married, she leaves behind her brothers Ernie and Al and sister-in-law Elsie of Kelowna, BC; her nieces Dallas and Amanda of Kelowna, BC and Cherise (Mike) of Grande Prairie, AB; her cousin Cameron (Donna) Sterng of Battleford, SK and their family, Laura (Randy) and Rodney (Andrea) and their respective families, all of Battleford, SK.
Al and family thank St. Joseph’s Home staff, Reverend Sisters and doctors for the care provided Pat during her stay.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1202 11th Street East, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. A private interment will follow. No flowers or tributes, please.
