Opie May Beals
Opie, May (Grant) Beals, 81 of North Preston, passed away peacefully at the Dartmouth General Hospital on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Born in North Preston, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (Smith) Grant. She was married to the late Albert “Dolfred” Beals Sr. Opie was retired and previously worked at Hermes Electronics., Dartmouth Inn Hotel and Provincial Foods. She was a member of the Saint Thomas Baptist Church. She will be missed by all of her family and friends for her humor and wittiness.
Opie is survived by sons; Harold Jr “June Boy” (Toronto), Lloyd Albert Beals (Lena) Ottawa, Terry North Preston, George (Kathy) British Columbia, Scott North Preston, daughters; Lola (Deacon Randy) Downey North Preston, Laura (Arthur) Beals, Dartmouth, Joan North Preston, 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, brothers; Alexander, Harold (Myra), Stanley (Erna), Pastor Lloyd (Cecille), Paul, sisters; Audrey, Courine Fraser (Standford), Georgina, Beulah Provo (Brenton) and Inez, brothers and sisters in law; Edna (Carl), Leona Byron, Joan Marvin, Levi, Wayne (Maureen), Monica (Frank), Maxine, Lorraine, Diane, Marion (Ingram), Marcella (Lorne), Chester (Joyce), Alvin (Nowella), Brent (Emily), Bradford (Debra), Michael, Josephine, uncle; Foster Smith, god-brother; Ernest Simmonds, god-children; Tara and Caprie Provo, and Violet Smith-McCloud. Best friends; Burley Provo, Marlene Downey and Myrna Provo. Predeceased by daughter; Wanda, grandchildren; Jermaine and Cory; maternal grandparents; Aubrey and Inez Smith, paternal grandparents; William and Mable Grant, brother; Basil, sisters; Ellen, Diane, Emily, Ollie and Evelyn.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home Dartmouth. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 1pm at Saint Thomas Baptist Church North Preston with Rev. Wallace Smith Sr. Officiating. Rev Lloyd Grant assistant. Burial will be in the Saint Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery-In Lieu of flowers donations in Opie’s memory can be made to Saint Thomas Baptist Church.
