Our beloved and cherished Olive passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on February 12, 2018 in her 88th year. Olive is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 67 years, Albert Edward Hornby. Olive will be forever remembered by her son James David (Mary-Anne), her daughter Pamela (Marc), her grandchildren Jonathan, Corinne, Christopher (Amanda), Allison (Alex), and Sarah (Ryan), and great grandson Ethan as well as her brother-in-law Ron and nieces Beverly, Karen, and Michelle and their families. Olive was born in Jarrow, England January 24, 1930. She was pre-deceased by her mother Phoebe Watson, her father David Watson, and sisters Nancy Armstrong and Audrey Hunter. Olive spent the majority of her career at the Atomic Energy of Canada where she also enjoyed organizing social events especially dances. She and Albert enjoyed many happy years at their home in Port Charlotte Florida golfing, lawn bowling and participating in all the events that made Maple Leaf Golf and Country Club their favourite winter retreat. Olive was competitive by nature and loved the challenge of a game of lawn bowling and enjoyed many happy times as a member of the Oakville Lawn and Bowling Club. She will be missed but not forgotten by her family and many friends. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Olive’s life will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church 89 Dunn St, Oakville, ON L6J 3C8 on February 27, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the church. Family and friends are invited to attend. Special thanks to the wonderful staff in the Emergency Department at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Donations in memory of Olive can be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada.
