Obituary for
Norman Mousseau
Norman Mousseau
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother and uncle on September 8, 2018 in his 61st year. Norman John Mousseau was born in Sault Ste. Marie on March 21st, 1958. First born son of John and Donalda Mousseau (MacDonald) both predeceased. Survived by his sisters Elizabeth Mousseau, son Thomas; Deborah Moxam (Wade), children Donalda, Daniel, Damara, and Xavier; and his brother Donald Mousseau, children Bradly (Kelly) and family, Allison (Devin), and Amanda (Trevor) and family. Lovingly remembered by his Godmother/Aunt Norma Butkevich (Joe predeaceased), Aunt Lorrie MacDonald (John predeceased), sister in law Janis and many cousins, extended family and close friends. He will be reunited in eternity with all his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who have gone before him.
With the support and perseverance of his parents Norman was one the first special needs students to be integrated in Nickel District Secondary School where he earned a High School Diploma. As a young teenager he was a member of a Special Olympics track and field team. Norman was a very dedicated and loyal worker who started as teenager, working with our dad at Silverwood Dairies. Norman worked almost 40 years at the Trevi Restaurant, he was also the custodian at Lord of the World parish until it closed in 2002. For the last 10 years he also worked part time at Teklenburgs Seafood Restaurant. In his spare time he was dedicated to many seniors in the neighbourhood, doing lawn maintenance and snow removal.
Norman is remembered by many as a kind and gentle soul who was always seen riding his bike or walking all over New Sudbury. He was the Neighbourhood Watch of New Sudbury. He never missed his daily stops at Jak’s Diner or Tim Hortons. He always made time to stop and chat because everyone knew Norm. He loved to socialize and enjoyed his regular visits with “the gang” at the pool hall and the bowling alley. He had a special place in his heart for the many hockey players that shared his home. Norman was a dedicated Catholic, he was truly a servant of God and was proud to be an altar server at Holy Redeemer Church.
Friends may call at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury from 2-5 and 7-9pm on Thursday September 13th, 2018. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury on Friday September 14th, 2018 at 11: 00 am. Interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery at 2:30 pm that afternoon. Floral Tributes are graciously declined by the family due to severe allergies. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Holy Redeemer Building Fund, and Special Olympics.
