Obituary for
Nora June Carpenter (Carpenter)
On May 06, 2018, at Forest Hill Nursing Home, our beloved Aunt Nora found relief and peace after suffering with Alzheimer’s. We are comforted in knowing she has reunited with her parents Olive Gray Faulkner and Thomas Lister Wood, and siblings: Geoffrey, Fred, Olive, Edith, Dave and Jack, who she missed terribly. Aunt Nora leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family to cherish her memories. Aunt Nora graduated from the Ottawa Civic Hospital Nursing Program in 1953. Retiring for health reasons, she continued her studies in computer science and became a programmer for the Federal Government. She was the longest serving member of Eastview Baptist Church and leaves behind many friends and wonderful memories from her years at the parish. Aunt Nora loved music and singing, and was a long-time member of the Capital Chordettes and Orpheus. She volunteered in her community and supported many charities. Those who were fortunate to have known her will remember a wonderful sense of humour that never failed to amuse. Visitation will take place at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), Ottawa, on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Memorial Service at Eastview Baptist Church in Vanier in the coming weeks. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Forest Hill Nursing Home for their compassion and care, and to the great friends she made there
