Nestor Tymryk
June 30, 1929 – September 15, 2018
Nestor Tymryk, beloved husband of Helen Tymryk of Danbury, SK, passed away peacefully at the Norquay Health Centre on September 15, 2018, at the age of 89 years.
Nestor Julian Tymryk was born June 30,1929, in Canora, SK, to Michael and Nellie (Korol) Tymryk. He proved to be a determined, strong-willed, and stubborn man from the day he was born, being two months premature, weighing only two and a half pounds and also surviving rheumatic fever. Nestor showed he had a fight in him that would not slow him down. In the fall of 1937, he moved from the Mazeppa area to the Danbury district with his family including his three sisters and his brother, whom they welcomed nineteen years later. Nestor attended Swan Bluff School, where he walked a mile and a half each way just to get his education. During his school years, Nestor also helped out on the family farm. Eventually he was lead to B.C. where he was employed at the Revelstoke Pulp Mill. In 1957, Nestor returned home where he later met Helen Koroluk at a community dance. Nestor knew right away that she was the love of his life, and one short year later they were married on November 20, 1958. Together they took over the Tymryk homestead. They did mixed farming, milked cows and sold cream to the local creamery, as well as drove school bus. During the winter months, Nestor would go up north to work at the saw mill. On August 16,1959, they started their family by welcoming their first child, Wayne Michael, followed by Jerome Alan John on July 7, 1960, Debra Lynn, November 3,1961 and Pamela Mae on September 5,1963.
Hunting was a passion for Nestor and quickly became a favourite past time for him to enjoy with both his sons. On Sundays, his daughters claimed his time by sight seeing down the country roads. Nestor found new joy when he welcomed nine grandchildren to love and spoil. He was lucky enough to earn a new title as Great Geda when the next generation joined his family. These four new littles each held a special place in his heart. Music played a major part in Nestor’s life, as he was a very talented musician. In his spare time he would be found playing the harmonica, guitar, violin, and accordion. There was nothing that brought more joy to him than watching his grandchildren dance around the living room while he played. In 2009, when his health declined after he suffered a stroke, Nestor relocated and became a resident of the Norquay Health Center. Despite the odds, Nestor refused to let his health keep him from enjoying life and creating new memories with his family. He proved time and time again to be a fighter! Sadly, Nestor was called home to his final resting place on September 15, 2018. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved
