Obituary Overview
Neil Graham Crowell
Age 81, of Lower Sackville, passed away on Friday, March 16th 2018 at the Oceanview Continuing Care Centre.
Born in Newport Corner on October 30, 1936, he was the son of Ralph and Helen (Smith) Crowell. He spent most of his childhood playing sports or walking uphill both ways to school and never getting in trouble. After graduating with
a degree in Architecture from the University of Manitoba, his career took him across Canada where he was involved in the design of many projects including those in Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, Riding Mountain, Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the Annapolis Valley.
Neil loved to help his family and was always a mentor to his children through his actions. He was happiest when he had a project on the go, a car in pieces or was involved in sports. Family and friends only had to pick up the phone and he would be over building something or just giving them advice. He always gave back to the community where he lived. While in Kentville and Lower Sackville he was a tremendous supporter of minor hockey and baseball as both a manager and coach. Most of his time was spent at a rink or a baseball field. He was advocate for and was involved in development of the Brooklyn Rink and the Sackville Sports Stadium.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Eilleen (Kvemshagen); his daughter, Jackie; his son, Greg (Denise
MacDonald); three grandchildren, Kody, Nathan and Emma. He is also survived by his sister, Kaye Logie (David), niece, Tara (Logie) Wickwire (Peter), and nephews, Ryan Logie (Kara), and Ashley Logie (Nadia), as well as many extended family members. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Stuart. A funeral service will be held at Atlantic Funeral Homes in Lower Sackville on Saturday March 24 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
