Obituary of Nancy Mayhew (nee Jay)
Slipped away quietly while at the Pontiac Reception Centre, Shawville, Quebec to join her husband Arthur Mayhew (October 2010), her parents Charles Jay and Margaret Taylor Edey, her sisters Emily Jay Gogo, Annie Jay Miner, Helen (Nellie) Jay Cochrane and her friend and cousin Mary Jay. She leaves to mourn her loss her children
Edith (Ross Campbell), Linden George Mayhew (Kathryn Chambers) and Roger Mayhew (Jennifer Davies) and her cousin Elwyn Jay. Back when she was able, she took great delight in spending time with and cooking for her grandchildren Trevor Campbell (Kelly Gustafson), Heather Campbell (James Sally), Darren Mayhew (Amanda O’Brien), Kimberley Mayhew (Adam Lehman), Alex and Laura Mayhew along with 8 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews and her in-laws the Mayhew clan. She loved to cook and bake; meaning we were greeted with cake, cookies, pies or homemade buns after school and as adults. She was a member of the St. Andrew’s-Knox UCW and in later years the Shawville UCW, Pontiac Community Hospital Auxiliary, Wyman/Bristol Women’s Institute. Nancy endured many challenges during her life but she was made of “good pioneer stock”.
