Muriel Schnuth 2018

Muriel Schnuth
Muriel Schnuth of Hazlet (Swift Current) passed away at Cypress House on May 25, 2018. Muriel is survived by her son Barry (Noreen); Granddaughter Dianna Schnuth of Toronto; Grandson Douglas of Medicine Hat and his children Keeley and Carter; daughter-in-law Joani Schnuth of Nanoose Bay; granddaughter Melissia (Cliff) Bauer of Victoria. Also surviving are Muriel’s brother Leslie (Anna) Jacques of Surrey, and nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Muriel was predeceased by her loving husband, Bud, two sons David Lynn and Richard Dwight; her parents William and Margaret Jacques; Bud’s parents Howard and Lena Schnuth; Muriel’s family: Eileen (James) Watts, Alan (Marguerite) Jacques, Doreen (Thomas) Gatland, Muriel’s twin sister, Margorie(Donald) Montgomery, Donovan Jacques (infancy), Clyde Jacques (infancy); Bud’s family: Raymond (Marion) Schnuth, William (Arlene) Schnuth, June (Keith) Culham, Jean Schnuth (infancy). Muriel and her twin sister were born at home on the land location NW 30-17-18-3rd, R.M. of Riverside, just north of Roseray, Saskatchewan. Muriel got her education at the Panorama School. She went out the B.C. coast to a fish cannery in 1938 to work. Muriel and Bud were married at the home of Muriel’s parents at Roseray. They raised three sons, Barry, Lynn and Dwight. Muriel loved the farm life, with Bud at her side, raising the boys. Her family was very important to her, and every chance they got to be together they visited and laughed together. Because most of Muriel’s family lived in B.C. there were many trips to the Coast. They went on many camping and trips when the boys were young. They all slept in a big tent and cooked their meals over the open fire. Muriel was a loyal Legion member, and worked tirelessly at the annual Legion Barbeque every Father’s Day weekend at Hazlet. She was a 4H leader in Hazlet, teaching sewing. Muriel was also a long standing member of the Roseray Community Club. Muriel and Bud always had a garden and the raspberry and asparagus patches were great. When the curling rink was first built in Hazlet, the whole family started curling, winning many prizes. Muriel took up the sport of golfing and when they spent their 28 years in Mesa, Arizona, they always walked the course three times a week. Muriel enjoyed playing cards and was really lucky at the Casino. Muriel always had to be dressed well, with all of it colour coordinated. Bud and Muriel purchased a condo (Pioneer Estates) in Swift Current and then moved to Cypress House a few years ago. Muriel and Bud were sports minded and whenever curling, baseball or golfing came on the TV, you would find them watching. Muriel was a wonderful mother-in-law to Noreen and Joani, and her Grandchildren, Dianna, Douglas and Melissia were her pride and joy. She enjoyed those special times with her great-grandchildren Keeley and Carter. Burial will be a private family graveside at a later date. Donations are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society. Warren’s Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
