Mike Blahun
We are saddened to announce that Mike Blahun of Rangeton, AB, passed away peacefully at home on June 22, 2018 at the age of 85 years.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth (nee Roszko); children, Bobby (Sophie), Valerie, Danny (Jamie), Michael (Kathy), Jim, and Duane (Janet); grandchildren, Tanya (Jeff), Travis (Stacey), Craig (Candice), Lindsay (Tanner), Faith, Daniel Jr., Lindsay, Corey-Jo, Stephen, Jason (Anne), Jennifer (Daniel), Bradley, Thomas, Liam and Erin; great-grandchildren, Dominique, Isabelle, Sterling, Noelle, Samuel, Jaxson, McKinlee, Wyatt, Josephine-Rae, Waylon, Radek, Blake and Brylee. Mike was pre-deceased by his parents, William and Dora; brother, John; sister, Olga; and son-in-law, Brian.
Mike was born in the Rangeton-Collynie district near Rochfort Bridge, AB. He endured hard-working times, overcoming difficult conditions to build a promising future for the family and subsequent generations. Starting with limited resources and support, Mike put his numerous skills and creativity toward logging, farming, building construction, mechanics, electrical, plumbing, school bus operations, police volunteer service, as well as interests in travel, reading, ancestry and learning computer-technology. He achieved much, yet remained humble and instead directed praise upon others. Mike possessed huge strength and courage, but also had a massive heart and caring personality. He put others’ needs ahead of his own and gave generously to family and friends at every opportunity. Mike, our “Dad” or “Gead” will be dearly missed and we will cherish our memories of him forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Park Court Hall, 7220 TWP 550, Yellowhead County.
Our family expresses thanks and appreciation to the emergency and first aid responders for their prompt attention and kind support efforts.
