Obituary for Michael Vincent Gallagher
GALLAGHER – MICHAEL VINCENT
April 5Th, 1936 – February 21,2018
It is with deep sadness that Mike’s family announces his passing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, on the evening of February 21st.
Loving husband of Donna (nee Foster) for 58 years and loved father of twin sons, Stephen (Debbie) of Leavenworth, Kansas and Stewart of Petawawa. Mike was a proud and loving grandfather of Ashley in Ireland, Blake in Colby, Kansas, Lauren in Newfoundland and Joel and Noah in Petawawa. Mike was the eldest son of Tom and Loretta (pre-deceased) and brother of Mary Lou Kunkle (Ralph deceased), of Halifax, Tom (predeceased), Laurine Lalande (pre-deceased) husband Rollie, Denis(Jackie), Dianne (Tom Wilson) and Frank (Suzanne) of Sharbot Lake.
Also left to mourn are Donna’s family: Karen McCarthy (Mike), of Niagara Falls, William Jr. (Lise) of Ottawa, and Soney Roy, (Brian) of North Bay and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.
After Mike retired form the ONR, he and Donna spent 20 years wintering in Puerto Plata and Daytona Beach followed by many wonderful cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
Mike was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Pipe Band for many years, an active member of the Golden Age Club, where he and Donna enjoyed getting together with friends for dances and socializing; he played golf every Thursday morning with his friends at Osprey Links and enjoyed 20 years of getting together for coffee with former ONR co-workers and many other friends and family at Northgate Shopping Center food court and all of our waterfront friends.
Visitation will take place at Martyn Funeral Home 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Monday, February 26th, 2018. A brief prayer service will be held at 2:00pm.
