Obituary Overview
Michael Pawlosky
Michael Pawlosky, known to his friends as “Happy” – a well-deserved nick-name arising from his love of humour and affable nature which made him many friends – was called to eternal rest on March 16, at the age of 98.
Michael was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, his sister Olga and her husband John. He is survived by his sister Minnie and her husband Ray, his son Richard, wife Ingrid, his daughter Patricia, husband Paul, and his granddaughter Nadia, husband Colin.
Michael was born in Winnipeg on August 17, 1919, middle child of John and Mary.
Prior to his retirement in 1982, Michael worked for approximately 35 years as a carman for Canadian Pacific Railway. He and Mary married in 1948, and they devoted themselves to rearing Richard and Patricia, and to providing them with the love and guidance that sustained them in their own lives.
He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends and his spirit will continue to live on through them.
The family wishes to extend their profound and heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge, particularly to the Oak Unit, for the care that Michael received there for the past four years. Their deepest thanks are also extended to the nurses, doctors and other staff at Concordia Hospital for the care and compassion with which they saw Michael through the last hours of his life, and for their open and empathetic communication with family members.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Avenue. Interment and reception will follow at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Fred Douglas Foundation, the Concordia Foundation, or to the donor’s charity of choice.
Rest eternal grant unto him
And let light perpetual shine upon him
