Obituary of Menno Schulz
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Menno Schulz at the age of 87, after a brief battle with cancer.
Menno grew up on a farm near Wiedenfeld, Manitoba. He attended school in a one room schoolhouse in Wiedenfeld, then one year in M.C.I and graduated from highschool at Miller Collegiate in Altona. He taught in various rural school districts, attended teacher’s college and then met a fine girl in Brunkild, Manitoba, Henrietta Wallman, and were married in 1956. They began their life together in Lowe Farm, moved to Haskett and then to Winkler, where they started their family. In 1965 the family moved to Eskimo Point, then to Churchill, and finally settled in Winnipeg in 1969. He retired from teaching in 1985.
Menno’s interests were conducting choirs, singing, golfing and he liked attending the horse racing at Assiniboine Downs. Menno made it important that the family attended church, mainly Burrows Bethel and later Bethel Mennonite.
Menno was the father of Evan (Arlie) and Rennie (Cindy) and six grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Linda Neufeld and Olga Teichroeb, brothers Waldo (Helen) and Victor (Rosella), and sister-in-laws Susan, Helen, and Mary. He was predeceased by his loving and faithful wife Henrietta (nee Wallman), his parents Bishop David and Katherine Schulz, brothers Leonard, Ben, Albert and Harold.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Bethel Place, Oakview Place, and finally Pembina Place for their care and perseverance.
A small gathering/viewing will be held on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at 2 pm at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Menno
