Maureen was born in Halifax, but grew up in Ontario where she met Chuck. They settled in Manitoba and lived out their retirement years in La Salle. Maureen’s love for children prompted her to complete her education to become a nursery school teacher in La Salle. This was a major passion of hers and she is fondly remembered by her students as Mrs. B. Although family was of prime importance, Maureen and Chuck loved to travel and cruised many parts of the world.
In 1983, Maureen’s health required a heart transplant which in time gave her a new lease on life providing her with just shy of 35 added years.
