Obituary of Mary Hafford
Passed away, peacefully, with family by her side, at Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday, September, 04, 2018, in her 73rd year. Mary was born in Stephenville, Nfld, on August 31, 1945.
Daughter of the late Rose Hinks and Michael Collier. She is survived by daughters Stacey and Kimberley. Grandchildren Jesse, Aidan, Emma, Wesley, and Tina; sisters Joan(Gary), Phyllis, Linda, Caroline; brother’s Norman (Fran), Hector, Lloyd(Carol) and special best friends Ann and Mary. Predeceased and reunited by her best friend and daughter Joanie, her infant son Vince, sisters Jean, Rona, Margie, and Brother Jerome.
Mary devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, always putting their needs and well being before her own. She was a good woman. Married and divorced twice to the same man, Joseph Hafford, started out in the restaurant business as a server/bartender back home, worked at Kaufman footwear for many years before retiring from First Mate Fish’n Chips restaurant in Kitchener. When her children were grown up, she made it her life’s mission to care for her grandson, Jesse, as her son, as her reason to keep going and the two took care of one another. She loved reading romance novels, yellow roses, kept her mind sharp and was an ace at crossword puzzles, watched the home network, tlc, ghost/paranormal, and reality talent shows like the Voice, American Idol, and America’s got Talent. A simple lady who will be deeply missed.
At Mary’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place.
Those wishing to express sympathy and appreciation for Mary’s life please make donations to the Cancer Centre at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener or through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 519-745-8445. « Love you bunches and bunches »
