It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Gerritsen of Edmonton, Alberta on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital at the age of 83 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary will be sadly missed by her husband, Bill; daughter, Shelley and son, Robert; brother, Jim; grandsons, Michael, Sammuel, Jaykob and Cole and granddaughter, Kora-Lee; mother-in-law, Truus and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Stephen Krykowski, sister-in-law, Dorothy Krykowski, and brother-in-law, Jake Vandenbrink.
Mary was a graduate from the EGH School of Nursing and practiced as an RN until 1993.
Mary enjoyed travelling and camping and spent many years serving in both Girl Guides and Boy Scouts of Canada. She also enjoyed playing bridge with many of her friends.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s the Evangelist Anglican Church, 11111-57 Avenue NW, Edmonton.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Grey Nuns Hospital and St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
