OBITUARY
Mary Ann Doreen Whipple
July 29, 1928 – September 7, 2018
At the age of 90 Doreen went home to be with the Lord. Mom was the 7th of 8 children born to George and Mable Mooney in Inverness, Quebec where she lived for the first 17 years. She moved with her family to Chilliwack B.C. where one more year of high school awaited her. She completed her lab tech. training and went immediately to work in that field. Mom married David I. Whipple on Sept. 2, 1955. They lived in Osoyoos, Armstrong, and Creston during Dad’s teaching years. After retirement they moved to Oyama, then to Kelowna. Mom was very involved in her church and in helping anyone needing it. She delighted in a good challenge and loved being productive. Other activities she enjoyed included swimming, hiking, reading, travelling, meeting new people and visiting with family and old friends. Predeceased by her husband, David, brothers, Doug, John, Mac and sister Dorothy. She is survived by her five children, Kathy (Carl) Thompson, Mark, Lynne (Harald) Bode, Ed (Sylvie) and Neil; 2 brothers, Bill and Bud, and sister Grace; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Doreen’s life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Town Hall at Sunpointe Village, 700 Rutland Road N., Kelowna. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sun Pointe Village for their kindness and helpfulness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Calgary, AB.
