Mary Amelia Boutcher
April 13, 1940 – June 1, 2018
Mary Amelia Boutcher’s beautiful life ended on June 1, 2018 at the palliative care unit of the VG Hospital in Halifax Nova Scotia. In her 78 years, Mary lived her life to the fullest, finding joy and laughter in the simple things of daily life. She loved picnics and going on road trips around Nova Scotia with her husband Warrick. She was also a master at Sudoku and impressive Scrabble player. Mary was a gentle and loving person who treated everyone with kindness and respect. She was also brave. She spent the last year of her life battling a disease that first showed up in her life seven years earlier. Last May, she found out the breast cancer she thought was gone had spread to several parts of her body and that’s what ultimately took her life. In her life, Mary focused on living each day with compassion, dignity and love. She died the same way with her loved ones around her and her strong faith in God making her transition from this world to the next easier. Born in Bryant’s Cove, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Julia (Gosse) Parsons. Mary was an elementary school teacher and loved working with children. She will be missed by her husband of nearly 60 years, Warrick, daughter, Lavonne (Desmond Kilfoil), sister, Verna (Patrick Pretty) from St. John’s Newfoundland and grandchildren, Natasha and Lauren Kilfoil. Mary was predeceased by her parents and brother Lloyd.
There will be a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448 with Rev. Bruce Kaiser officiating.
