VAN DEN ELSEN, Martin (1928-2018) – surrounded by his loving family at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Monday, December 31st, 2018 in his 91st year. Cherished husband of 62+ years to Marie Van Den Elsen of Port Dover. Loving father of Ed Van Den Elsen (Margie) of Simcoe, Dianne Van Daele (John) of Courtland, Art Van Den Elsen (Marcia) of Simcoe and Rita Beckett of Burford. Cherished grandfather & great grandfather of Julie Vandepoele (Ryan), their children Elena & Evie; Sara Van Den Elsen; Dion Matthews (Roni), sons Grayson & Nolan; Leanne Van Daele; Reed & Raya Van Den Elsen and Trewit, Tayten & Rylan Beckett. Martin will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Marie, Cor, Piet, Theo, Wim and by many nieces, nephews & extended family. Predeceased by his brothers Anton, Jan & Nart. Friends are invited to share their memories of Martin with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Friday, January 4th, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be said Friday evening at 6:45. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 17 Lynn Park Ave. Port Dover on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Alan Dufraimont as celebrant. Interment: Port Dover Cemetery. Those wishing to donate in memory of Martin are asked to consider the Juravinski Cancer Clinic or the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.
