MARTIN, George Melvin
January 19, 1932 – August 18, 2018
It is with sadness we announce that our beloved Father, Grandfather and Uncle George Martin passed away in Calgary, AB after a 2 ½ year battle with dementia at the age of 86 years.
George was born in Dewinton, AB to Cora and Melvin Martin and lived most of his life on the original homestead that his grandparents established in the late 1800’s. George and Marion moved to Okotoks in 2004.
As a young man, George attended Tech (SAIT) to become an automotive mechanic and worked at GSL in the 1950’s. His love of mechanics served him well as he spent most of his career as a dairy farmer. He loved life on the homestead and was blessed to raise his family there with the love of his life, Marion.
George will be lovingly remembered by his son Douglas, daughter Tamara, and his 3 grandsons Remi, Clayton and Russell. He was predeceased by his wife Marion on August 18, 2016 and his brother Russell in 2012.
His son would like to thank the kind staff at both Father Lacombe and Bow Crest Care Centres for the wonderful care George received.
