Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
Marlene Joyce McIntosh (nee Mottershead)
July 11, 1938 – February 24, 2018
On Saturday, February 24, 2018 Marlene passed away surrounded by her family.
She leaves behind her husband of 49 ½ years, Vern McIntosh, her son Tracy McIntosh, daughter & son in law, Barb & Russ White, and grandsons Kyle and Bevan White, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Helen & Ted, her brother Rick Mottershead and sister Loretta Kadonaga, and son Art McIntosh.
Marlene was born in Edmonton to Thomas (Ted) & Helen Mottershead. After her school years she worked for the Edmonton Journal, R. Angus, Edmonton City Police, Edmonton Social Services, and the Edmonton Police Association.
Marlene lived a life of several interests. She enjoyed social activities, camping, fishing, traveling, pets, needlework, and was an avid reader. She particularly loved country living on the acreage.
Our mom, wife, nana, friend, and auntie, had suffered a lengthy period of pain brought about by a very progressive cancer throughout her body and passed at the Grey Nuns Palliative Care Unit.
We are so extremely thankful & grateful for the angelic staff and volunteers at Unit 43 Palliative Care Unit. Each of them were so wonderfully compassionate in caring for her and the pain and stress endured by the family. This was not a journey that any of us could have taken without these Amazing Doctors, Nurses, and Aides.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home,
52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edmonton Humane Society.
