In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts we share with you the reason for our grief and announce the passing of Mark Van Zant. On May 21st 2018, Mark passed away turning our world upside down. Mark was the devoted husband of Robyn and fantastic father of Maxwell.
Mark was born in Montreal, Quebec, to the late Olga nee Zikmund and Frank Van Zant and was also the well loved son-in-law to Dolores and Michael O’Leary. Mark was brother to Daniel (Sheera), brother-in-law to Christine (Christopher) and Jennifer and Uncle to Mara, Dylan, Ruthie and Ziggy. Mark will be missed by his great-aunt Dasa Havelka and her family, his aunt Marcella Gertler Zikmund and her family, as well as his dear friends, students and colleagues.
Mark taught at many of the secondary schools within Halton Catholic where he recently was at Holy Trinity teaching French. He had a great sense of humour, style and love for the outdoors. We will always remember his standards and his willingness to impart his wisdom and clever sayings to all. He was always in host mode, even at the homes of other people, ensuring no one ever had an empty glass and that they were taken care of.
Blessed are they that give us permission to mourn the loss of one dearly loved, free of judgment, censor, and shame.
