Obituary for
Marion Clarke
In loving memory of
Marion Rebecca Kathleen Clarke (nee Orr)
August 11th, 1928 – April 30th, 2018
Marion was welcomed into her heavenly home on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Bayfield Manor, Kemptville, ON. Treasured wife of James Clarke for 65 years. Beloved mother of Doug (Diane), Edmonton, Steve (Carol-Anne), Kemptville, and Sue Clarke White, Cambridge. Loved Gramma of Jade (Jaret), Carina (Calev), Jared (Becky), Stephanie, Alex, Tim, Dan (Katie), Anna, Joshua and Shelby. Great Gramma of Jaya, Jesse, Jedaiah, Juliet, Jonah, Noelle, Jasper, Ivy, Hayden, Hannah, Holden, Hillary and Cameron. Pre-deceased by daughter Dorothy, parents Nelson and Eva Orr, brothers Myrll and David, sisters Betty and Dorothy, and husband James. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
Marion was born in Bracebridge, Ontario on August 11, 1928. At 16 years of age, she moved to Toronto to attend Ontario Pentecostal Bible College. After graduation, she took a teaching position in 1947 Monteith, ON (Northern Ontario), which is where she met her Sweetheart, Jim Clarke. They married in Bracebridge, Ontario on April 18, 1949. Marion taught school full time for a few years and then did supply teaching up until 1977. In 1961, Jim and Marion bought ‘The Farm’ in Porquis Junction, where they raised their children Doug, Steve, and Susan, and joyfully welcomed grandchildren and great grandchildren home to visit.
Possessing a true servant’s heart, Marion faithfully cared for her beloved family and friends, often through her cooking and baking. She frequently won awards at the Porquis Fall Fair for her baking and preserves. She helped Jim on the farm, and always loved spending time working in her large vegetable garden. She also took great pleasure in the beautiful flowers she planted around her home.
She had a keen mind and a lifelong love of learning. Surrounded by books, Marion would often read inspiring stories to the family. A woman of deep, unwavering faith, she set a Godly foundation for her children. She was actively involved in her church, and started a community Sunday School in Porquis, serving the spiritual needs of her community. Marion also had a local cable television program out of Timmins, Ontario called Apples Of Gold for a number of years.
Marion was devoted to her family, and to the Lord Jesus Christ. Her greatest joy came from believing in the power and strength of God’s love, and she was secure in the beauty and peace that awaited her in Heaven. Her desire was to share and nurture that faith and hope with others.
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Prov. 31:28-29
We would like to thank the Bayfield Manor Staff for their exceptional care and love of Marion during the last years of her life.
