Of Dartmouth was granted her wings on June 27, 2018 surrounded by loved ones at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 77. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Deborah (Clinton), grandson Derek (PJ), sisters; Pauline (Larry), June, Janet (Ken), Cathy, Patricia (Ralph), and Shelley, brothers; Dennis, David (Deborah), Gary (Chris), and brother in-law Ron. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews and her loving friends Brenda and Vadie who held a very special place in Marilyn’s heart.
Born May 16, 1941 Marilyn was predeceased by husband Albert (Bullet), parents Harold and Margaret (Lindsay) O’Brien, brothers; Albert and Cyril (Butch), and sister, Maureen.
Marilyn was born in Dartmouth and was also a long time resident of Lower Sackville. Marilyn loved to entertain family and friends especially on her favourite day of the year, St. Patrick’s Day. She took great pride in her Irish heritage. Marilyn enjoyed cooking, knitting, playing old country tunes on her guitar and she was a huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. She was known to the staff at The Hub Too as “the queen,” where she will certainly be missed for her loving heart, contagious laugh and great sense of humour. Special thanks to the VON, the Doctors and staff of 7A and 8A at the QE11 Health Science Centre and to the numerous caregivers. Thank you to Father Toochukwu Okafor of St. Thomas More Parish and Father Owen of the QE11. A heartfelt thank you to Marilyn’s loving family and friends for visits, phone calls and flowers. And a very special thank you to Marilyn’s sisters Janet and Shelley for their daily devotion of caring for Marilyn. You both have truly been a blessing.
Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street, Dartmouth.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to an animal shelter of your choice, as Marilyn had a love of animals and especially adored cats.
