It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Marilyn Sullivan of Russell, Ontario. Marilyn passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday August 28, 2018. She was born on August 5, 1933 in Ottawa to Morris and Elda (McGee) Bradley of Navan. She was the youngest of three children and their only daughter. After graduating from Lisgar Collegiate Institute in Ottawa, Marilyn worked at the Bank of Canada until she married James Sullivan in 1956, and together they operated SullRuss Farms. They had two sons James Bradley and Kenneth Scott. Later, Marilyn owned and operated Winchester Travel and had the pleasure of traveling the world exploring and hosting group excursions for 25 years. Marilyn was an avid swimmer, competitive curler and loved sports of all nature. She was often found at the hockey rink, “coaching” her sons and later in her reserved seats “coaching” the Senators. Every other spare moment was spent volunteering and enjoying the cottage life. In 2001, the Bradley family was honoured by receiving the key to the City of Ottawa. Family and friends were the light of Marilyn’s life. She was a doting Grandmother to five granddaughters and one great grandson. She loved nothing better than a family gathering, a spirited game of cards or meeting cherished friends for a visit. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents and brother Lorne. She is survived by her brother Ross (Gwen), Sister-in-law Joyce, sons Brad (Deb) and Ken (Cheryl), Granddaughters Lyndsey (Adam), Kirsten (Trevor), Delaney, Taylor and Sydney, great grandson Nathan and family too numerous to name. The family is profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers. Thank you to the caring professionals at the Russell Meadows who made her final days more comfortable. Thank you also to Dr. Gerry Heymans for all his care. There will be a private family gathering to lay Marilyn to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Navan. The family will host friends and family at a Celebration of Life on Friday September 14, 2018 beginning at 3:00pm at the Russell Curling Club. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association of Canada.
