Marilyn Campbell, age 80, of Stratford (formerly of Prescott), passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Born and raised in Montreal, she was the devoted and supportive wife of Tom Campbell for 58 years. Beloved mother to Scott Campbell (Heather) of Stratford, JoAnn Campbell (Craig Watkins) of Palmyra, NY, Dawn Waltenbury (Al) of North Bay and Craig Campbell (Michelle) of Stratford. Loving grandmother to Alyson Reinders (Dustin), Mac Campbell (Rachael Ganner), Nicholas and Spencer Waltenbury and Noah, Victoria and Colton Campbell. Dear sister to Richard Platt (Joan) of Brights Grove and sister-in-law to Doreen Powers of Ottawa. We would be remiss in not mentioning Charlie Tobin, whom she loved as her own. Marilyn was a big city gal turned small town girl. She quickly embraced her ‘one year’ move to Prescott which lasted 41 years! She cherished her community and treasured her lifetime friendships. Known for her gentle spirit and incessant smile, she exemplified the true meaning of kind-heartedness and valued family and friendships above all else. She personified strength and resilience throughout her life and was committed to quietly enriching the lives of others. Altruistically, Marilyn supported her husband and 4 children in their post-secondary studies until finally clearing time to obtain her own Degree from the University of Waterloo at the age of 59. Marilyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. She worked as an Executive Assistant, Educational Assistant and School Secretary. Our deepest gratitude to the caring staff at River Gardens and Spruce Lodge who made Marilyn’s years wonderful. Special thanks to Dr.’s Lussier, Brooks and McIsaac and the compassionate nurses and PSWs at Stratford General Hospital who ensured her comfort in her last days. You are all special angels and we are eternally grateful!! A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at River Gardens (River Room), 10 Romeo Street, Stratford at 12:30 p.m. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will also be held in Prescott in early July. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CHEO (a Children’s Hospital close to Mom’s heart) www.cheo.on.ca or the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice www.stratfordperthhospice.ca through the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. 519.271.7411. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com or a quiet, ‘random act of kindness’ in Mom’s honour would be greatly appreciated. We are blessed and grateful to have had you in our lives …. Cheers to you Mom! Enjoy your ‘happy hours in heaven’!! xoxo
