July 22 1933 – November 23, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Jeannette Leonard after a long battle with cancer. Leaving behind to mourn are her three children: Reggie (Kim) Aylesford, NS; David (Sandra) Lawrencetown, NS; Susan (Donnie) Scoville, Greenwood Square, NS, grandchildren: Scott; Samantha; Tessa; Lindsey; Blake; Christopher, great grandchildren, Dillan, Desmond, Grace, Zander and Bella, Jeannette was an only child and was pre-deceased by her parents Alphonse and Estelle, grandson, Logan and husband Reginald. Jeannette was a proud Acadian and born in Meteghan, NS. After graduating from the Sacred Heart Academy, she went on to study Home Economics at the Family Institute in St. Ursele, QC. From there she went on to teach in Cape Breton, Whitehorse, Quebec, and the Annapolis Valley in NS. She taught for a total of 34 years. Before marrying and having children, Jeannette enjoyed travelling and visited Britain, Europe, Italy, the USA and France. She also attended the World’s Fair in New York City in 1964 and again in Montreal in 1967. Jeannette loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and crafts. Jeannette was a devoted Roman Catholic. Warmest thanks to Tammy Havenga and staff, as well as the Palliative Care Team. Visitation will be 7-9 pm, Tuesday November 27, 2018 at Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448. Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Heaven Chapel in Greenwood at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 28, 2018 with Father John MacPherson officiating. There will be a reception following the service for family and friends. Interment will be at St. Monica’s Cemetery, Middleton.
