Marie Denise Dube December 14th 2017

It is with very heavy hearts and immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and nana, Denise Dube.
Denise passed away peacefully in her home with her children, Jeremy and Ashley, holding her hands.
Denise was predeceased by her lifetime, loving husband Ted Jackman in 2012, as well as her brother Marcel Dube, and parents Paula and Ludovic Dube.
She is survived by her son Jeremy Jackman of Fruitvale, BC, her daughter Ashley Jackman (Garrett Pickard) and grandson Raiden of Cranbrook, BC, and Granddaughter Danica of Rossland BC and her sister Pierrette (Terry) Peterson of Tappen, BC. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Terry (Jenna) Peterson, Charlene (Joe) Holman, Bobbie Dube, Lynn Dube, Daryan (Nicole) Dube, Toni-Rae Dube, Jocelyne Dube, Markus Dube, and Mikayla Dube, as well as her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
Denise was born in Edmonton, AB, weighing only 2.3 lbs., while the family was living in Hinton, AB. The family later moved to Nakusp, BC, where she spent the majority of her childhood, and it was there that she met her loving soulmate Ted at the tender age of 16. She and Ted then moved to Fruitvale where they started their family in 1983.
Denise worked in the Zeller’s restaurant at the Waneta Plaza for 17 years and had worked her way up to manager by the time the restaurant closed its doors. She always spoke fondly of her time at the restaurant and all the many regular customers and great friends she had made along the way. Through the years she still got together with some of them regularly for coffee and to catch up.
To earn a few extra dollars after the restaurant closed, she built her own business cleaning houses and other businesses in the community. She established some great clients whom she thought of as friends and was very grateful for how kind and accommodating they were during the last couple of years while she was going through her treatments and wasn’t always feeling her best.
Denise was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016 and even though the doctors only gave her a few months to live, she fought fearlessly and heroically for nearly two years, making sure to share as many precious moments as she could with Ashley and Jeremy, and her much adored grandson, Raiden. During those two year she was able to live life to its fullest. The family bought a truck and trailer and camped all around, but spent most their time in Cranbrook, so she could spend precious time getting to know her grandson Raiden. She joined her son Jeremy on many road trips and enjoyed cross-border shopping when she was feeling well. She even went to see Garth Brooks in concert in 2017 after only being released from the Trail hospital that very afternoon. Denise had many hobbies over the years, but always particularly enjoyed crafting things of some kind. She was a strong and courageous woman who always wore a smile on her face and her heart on her sleeve.
She will be missed by many here on earth, but heaven gained another angel. Ted will be happy to have his soulmate back with him again.
The family would like to send out a thank you to the Beaver Valley clinic staff, home support staff and the oncology ward staff. We also send a very special thank you to Shannon, from Home Support, for all you did to help us during this time, and to Marie Cooper, for all of the love and support you gave us and mom over the last few years. She cherished your friendship so much.
A Celebration of Life for Denise will be held at 1pm on Feb 17, 2018, at the Trail Legion. Jordan Wren of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
