Maria Matelich
December 19, 1930 – August 21, 2018
Our hearts are shattered. Our pain is deep.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mamma and Nonna, Maria Matelich.
Maria was born in Poropati, Istria on December 19, 1930. Surrounded by her loving family, she left us for her destined journey to heaven on August 21, 2018 in Vancouver, BC, at the age of 87.
Maria leaves behind her precious daughters, Rosana (Mike), Elsa (Tullio), Lilliana (Shawn), her beloved grandchildren, Anthony (Nikolina), John (Asako), Marc (Sarah), Kristina (Ivan), Lisa (Ben), Gina (Jovan), Nicolas (Lupe), her youngest angel Ava-Rose and her great grandchildren, Luka, Ante, Niko, Tomas, Ana, Rose and sweet baby Jack.
Viewing will take place at the
Ocean View Funeral Home Chapel
4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby on
Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial (closed casket) will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Parish
2025 Napier Street, Vancouver on
Friday, August 31, 2018.
Prayers will begin at 10:30 am and will be followed by Mass at 11:00 am.
Interment at Ocean View Cemetery
4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, at 2:30 pm.
A reception will be held on site at the Ocean View Funeral Home immediately following.
Maria was a courageous, loving and tenderhearted woman with a joyful spirit. She exuded authentic warmth that enveloped all who knew her and all who had the opportunity to meet her. She touched hearts with grace and openness and enriched the lives of others.
Maria will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered evermore.
Forever in our hearts, you will be with us to protect and guide us for always. We will look towards the heavens for you Nostra Luce and will be embraced by your everlasting and loving light. Love you more Mamma! Rest in heavenly Peace.
