Passed Away ~ April 13, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Maria Da Silva, beloved wife of the late Joao Pedro Da Silva, passed away at her home in the company of her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Manuel Da Silva (Delia) of Calgary, Fatima Da Silva (John) of Calgary, Cany Gomes (Jose) of Terceira, Portugal, Fernando Da Silva (Alice) of Calgary, Mary Lou Silva (John) of Calgary, and Jaime Da Silva (Amelia) of Terceira, Portugal; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Maria will also be sadly missed by her sister Joana Gaspar of Toronto; daughters-in-law: Natalia Da Silva of Calgary, Luzia Da Silva of Toronto, and Fatima Gravito of Terceira, Portugal along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Maria Jose and Jose Rufino; her husband Joao Pedro Da Silva (1979); her sons: John D. Da Silva (2010), Jose Carlos Da Silva (1992), and Lionel Da Silva (1985); her grandson Paulo Manuel Fagundes (2016); and her brothers and sisters.
Maria will be fondly remembered for her deep love of family, her incredible skill as a seamstress, sewing many outfits for her children and grandchildren, and for her beautiful gardens that she lovingly tended to. She was a proud member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for thirty-five years. Maria loved traveling back to Portugal to visit her large family living there.
Visitation and Prayers will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30 Street SE, Calgary) on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Prayers starting at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 10:30 p.m. Graveside Service will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
