FALL (Biekens), Maria J. – Age 93, died August 27, 2018 at home. There will be no visitation at her request. Interment will be held at a later date in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery in Crapaud, P.E.I. Maria was born October 20, 1924 in Tilburg, Netherlands to the late Lambertus and Elisabeth Biekens (Van Gestel). She came to Canada in 1946 as a war bride and was married to John Fall for 57 years before he passed in 2003. She is survived by her children, Lambert (Debbie), Charles (Anne) and Mary Beth (Peter); and former daughter-in-law, Joanne. Maria is also survived by her brother, Theo Biekens, and cousins in the Netherlands. She was grandmother to 10; great-grandmother to 15, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. As well as her husband, John, she was predeceased by her son, Nelson Fall (Quebec); and brother, Casey (Halifax). Maria loved all gardening and was a long-time member of the African Violet Society. She enjoyed dancing with the Stardusters. In her senior years she spent many hours knitting baby hats for the IWK Health Centre. Maria worked with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was a lay Franciscan minister of the Eucharist in her younger years. She volunteered at Hope Cottage for 10 years and for several years at the County Home. Maria always enjoyed hearing « news » from family and friends who stayed in touch.
