ALWARD, Maria (Higgins/Buchynsky) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. sister and friend. Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Anastasia Buchynsky and her husband Ron Alward (1986), her knight in shining armour. Mother to John (Sandy), Dan (Alice), Ron (2015) (Amy) and Darlene Cragg (Guy). Step-mother to Ron Alward (Mercie) and Alan Alward (Peg). Baba to Rob, Jenny (2012), Josh, David and Thomas Higgins, Adam Cragg and Amanda Preet. Great-Baba to Halle, Kole, Tyler, Chase, Hayden, Keaton, Avery and Logan. Sister to Anne Lyjak, Polly Kidd and Erna Koshulap. Maria immigrated from the Ukraine in 1939 and was a proud Canadian and Windsorite. She was an active member in her community volunteering for many organizations: Ontario Chapter of Questers, City of Windsor Ambassadors, Friends of Willistead, Art Gallery of Windsor and the Ukrainian Hall on Ottawa Street. Special thank you to all the staff at Southwood Lakes Extendicare for all their wonderful care and kindness. Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7234) on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral will take place Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vladmir Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church (601 Lake Trail Drive) followed by the procession to Windsor Memorial Gardens.
