La célébration de
Margaret Zyma
11 avril 1940 –
28 septembre 2018
It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden, yet peaceful, passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother Margaret (nee Gebel) Zyma. She was the loving wife of 51 years to her husband, Zenis. Margaret will be forever missed and cherished by her loving children Michael (Giovanna), Christine (Dan), Nadine (Pete), Lesley (Sean), her fur baby Bella and her many grandchildren Victoria (Zach), Michelle, Brandon, Jonathan, Matthew, Adelaide and Harvey. Margaret was a dear sister to Peter, Mary, Andy, Betty, Joseph (Gail) and dear sister-in-law to Adele (Peter). She will be dearly missed by her several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across Canada and abroad. Margaret taught with the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board for 38 years. She received her B.A. from McMaster University in 1989. Upon her retirement, she volunteered with Bob Kemp Hospice and The Catholic Woman’s League. She was actively involved in several capacities within the Church and the community of Caledonia. Margaret orchestrated the creation of the Shrine of St. Kateri Tekakwitha at St. Patrick’s Church. She was a devoted Catholic who also adored service, health, nature, food, animals, her friends and most of all her family, where she was both their compass and their pillar. Sincere gratitude is extended to the staff in the ICU East at Hamilton General Hospital for their kindness, care, compassion and advocacy for Margaret.
Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home (947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton) on Tuesday October 2nd from 1-4 and 6-9pm. A Rosary will take place at 7pm.
Funeral mass will take place on Wednesday October 3rd at St. Patrick’s Church (107 Orkney Street East, Caledonia) at 11am. Interment to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington.
Her Celebration of Life will follow at The Caledonia Lions Club (100 Haddington St., Caledonia) at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, Hamilton General Hospital Foundation or the St. Patrick’s Church Renovation Project. As a family it is our wish to carry on Margaret’s spirit and light each and every day.
