It is with deep sadness, that Debbie, Dawn and Darlene announce the passing of their beloved mother, Margaret Moore, on March 25, 2018.
She leaves to mourn daughter Debbie (Stan), children David (Stephanie; children Rohen and Holly) and Cameron. Daughter Dawn (Len), children Jake and Lyndell (Chris). Daughter Darlene (Stef), children Heather (Corey), Richelle (Wesley; children Abigail and Molly) and Danielle. As well as her very special pet, Cinder.
She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Garry Parkes and Terry Moore (Mary) and sisters-in-law, Ing Pearson, Lois Turcotte, Fay Gyenge, Audrey Nagy, Carol Osadchuk, Kathy Woolsey (Dean), her many nieces and nephews and special Auntie, Ena Fitzgerald.
She was predeceased by her parents, David and Lilly Pearson, brother Jim Pearson and sister Janet Parkes as well as the father of her girls, Elgin Moore.
Marg was born in Pine Falls, Manitoba, and grew up on their Riverland acreage in Lac Du Bonnet. She lived briefly in Keewatin as a teenager, while her father worked on a construction site which allowed her to meet lifelong friends Anne Marie Contini and Sharon Craig. She relocated to Kenora when she was 18 where she met the father of her girls, and began her life as a wife and mother.
Marg worked at various jobs while her girls were young, starting at Bouquet Beauty Salon, McKelvie’s IGA then and Woolco. When Woolco closed she moved onto Pinecrest Home briefly before her employment with FIREFLY Daycare. She loved cooking for the Daycare kids and was flattered every time a parent asked for a recipe because their child would only eat Marg’s macaroni or Marg’s meatballs.
Marg belonged to the Keewatin Kinettes, was a Brownie Leader and a member of the Keewatin Figure Skating Club executive. With 3 girls in figure skating, she quickly learned how to sew skating dresses and costumes in all sizes with all kinds of fabric. Once her grandchildren came along she became a figure skating fan again and learned to love soccer and hockey. She travelled to many hockey tournaments, had her own hockey blanket and proudly wore her “Hockey Gramma” pin. It took a while but she did learn off sides and icing and most penalties, but never quite understood why any coach would pull their goalie. As Marg approached retirement, she quickly learned to be a volunteer and was Debbie’s “back up volunteer” at anything Debbie was involved with. She was a volunteer at the Lake of the Woods Hospital Gift Shop, the Terry Fox Run, Triple P.L.A.Y. and whatever hockey tournament/game or figure skating competition/ice show that Debbie was involved with. She has sewn a multitude of name bars on hockey jerseys for countless teams and players. She was also active with the New Horizon’s Keewatin Branch and loved reconnecting with Keewatin friends.
Marg’s biggest joy was her family and loved when everyone was around…..just like it was with her mom. She stepped into Nana Lilly’s shoes with ease and could make thin bread and Swedish pancakes for large numbers and learned to knit for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There are a lot of little ones out there with blankets made by Marg. It was Marg’s plan to travel to Sweden to visit her family there and see the country with her girls, so the trip will happen in her memory.
A Celebration of Marg’s Life will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, with burial to follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
In honour of Marg, donations can be made to Triple P.L.A.Y., the Cat Shelter or a charity of your choice, which would be greatly appreciated by the family.
