MATTHEWS, Margaret Jean
August 22, 1946 – July 21, 2018
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Jean Matthews (nee Fisher) after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Margaret was born and raised in Ashburn Ontario where she married her high school sweetheart Art and raised their 2 sons Richard and Aaron.
They eventually moved to the family cottage on Paudash Lake, the place she most felt “at home”. Her favourite time of day was at dusk, sipping a glass of wine while watching for the hummingbirds as the sun was setting turning everything to black and white. Margaret was grateful for the many friends she made while living in Bancroft and thoroughly enjoyed her time with the Sultry Sirens Red Hats and working with the lovely people for the Bancroft Hospital Auxiliary Corner Café. Margaret will be affectionately remembered for her feisty, charismatic personality and true heart of gold, always willing to offer advice and help out anyone in need. Margaret is pre-deceased by her parents Alfred and Muriel Fisher (nee Kerry), her husband Arthur, and brother Harold. She will be forever cherished by her sons Richard and Aaron (Trish), sister Diane Batten, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and will be forever remembered and loved by her “little people” – Princess Sarah-Anne and Angel Caleb.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 4th, 2018 at the WHITBY FREE METHODIST CHURCH, 1916 Rossland Rd. E Whitby at 2:00 PM. . Visitation to take place from 1:00-2:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bancroft Hospital Auxiliary or to PRHC Palliative Care and can be made be made through the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough.
