Margaret – Our Special Angel
Margaret passed away peacefully at Trillium Lodge in Parksville after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in New Westminster to William and Margaret Miller on March 25, 1919. She was predeceased by her husband Don in 1990, her daughter Marlene in 2018, grandson Jeff in 2006 and her siblings Allan, Kathleen and Evelyn. Left with their memories are her eldest daughter Donna (Robert) Fulton, son-in-law Glenn Taylor, four grandsons – Kevin Fulton (Joanne), Darryl Fulton (Susan), Tony Taylor (Tina) and Don Taylor; four great grandchildren – Jon Fulton (Naomi), Liam and Sara Fulton and Austin Taylor. She will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families and all her wonderful friends at Valley Village.
Margaret married the love of her life, Donald Sayce in 1940 and in 1941, shortly after the birth of Donna, he went overseas with the Westminster Regiment, not returning until the end of the war in 1945. In 1947 they welcomed another daughter, Marlene, and their family was complete. Together they built a life together and enjoyed many happy moments and made many great memories in the 50 years they had together.. After his death in 1990 she stayed on at Valley Village Co-Op where they had lived since 1981. It was there she formed a craft group and had many fun times with her other “crafty” friends. She was also known as the “Secret Santa” crocheting dishcloths, filling them with goodies and hanging them on her friend’s door knobs. Eventually she was doing this for other special holidays throughout the year as well.
She was a stay-at-home mom and home maker but having taken piano lessons for 10 years eventually became a church pianist and stayed with that for over 30 years. Her love of music was an inspiration to many and a gift she handed down to many of the family.
Special thanks to her niece, Marilyn, who for many years was her private ‘taxi’ taking her shopping, going for lunch and making sure she got to all her appointments.
She will be missed for her caring ways, her loving heart, her love of family and her never failing faith and strong Christian beliefs and love of family. She was truly our guiding light and an angel on earth. She is now Safe in the Arms of Jesus.
