Obituary Overview
Margaret « Doreen » Rudolph
Rudolph (Wilson), Margaret “Doreen”, age 78, of Dartmouth.
With broken hearts, we are sad to announce that Mom passed away on February 21, 2018 in the VG Site, QEII, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by her loving children, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in her family home in Wilson’s Cove, she was the only daughter of the late Augustus “Gus” Wilson and Clare (Spanks) Wilson/Turner.
Doreen moved to Dartmouth as a young woman and worked for the federal government (DND-Shearwater) until starting her family. From that point on, she dedicated her entire life to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Mom enjoyed cooking, baking and hosting various family celebrations. She loved spending time with her family and friends in Liscomb over the years. She also enjoyed knitting, crib, card games, and she completed the Chronicle Herald crossword puzzle daily. She treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She will be remembered for her love of life, storytelling and her great sense of humour which she maintained until the very end.
Doreen is survived by her only daughter; Charmaine (David) Jennex; sons, Wade (Sandra), Darren (Susan), Justin (Anne), all of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Dustin (Sarah), Shawntelle (Chris), Jasmine, Kyle, Brady, Augustus “Gus”, and Rose. She is also survived by her brother Sherman Wilson, Sherbrooke; sisters-in-law Anna Turple, Lake Charlotte, Helene Wilson, Kelowna, BC, Vera Rudolph, New Glasgow, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Doreen will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Sterling Rudolph; brothers, Ronald “Ron”, Wayne, and Keith Wilson.
In keeping with Mom’s wishes, cremation will take place. A family memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, February 26 in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Liscomb. Interment in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Special thanks to Mitch Deveau, Palliative Care Nurse and the VG Palliative Care team, as well as the VON and Bayshore staff for helping us to care for Mom in her final days.
