Margaret DiFrancesco, 95, of Calgary, Alberta went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 22, 2018. Margaret was born on August 18, 1923, in Kronsfeld, Russia to David and Mary (Peters) Klassen. They emigrated to Canada when she was a baby, and eventually settled in Hanna, Alberta. Margaret was the oldest of 11 children, and following middle school, stayed at home to help her mother raise her siblings (David, Helen, Rudy, Dorothy, Erwin, Edward, Bernie, Rae, Eric, and Trudi) In her mid 20s, Margaret was delighted to be accepted as a licensed practical nursing student in Steinbach, Manitoba, despite her less than perfect vision, and went on to a job she loved at the Calgary General Hospital. She told many wonderful stories of her time in working on the TB ward, on the labor and delivery unit, and more. Margaret married Domenico DiFrancesco in 1958, and subsequently had two daughters, Shirley and Lisa. When her girls were older, Margaret returned to work as a sales clerk in a dress shop, where she was quite sought after as a clothing and fashion expert! Margaret enjoyed gardening, baking, music appreciation, singing, and decorating her home, but most of all loved to spend time with family and friends. No family get together would be complete without Margaret’s funny stories and infectious laughter! She spent many hours selflessly babysitting her grandchildren in order to assist her daughters with developing their careers. She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley (Ken) Degner, and Lisa DiFrancesco (Doug Demetrick), and 7 grandchildren, Luke (Lisa), Kathleen, Julie, Melanie, Sean, Selina, and Alessandra. She is also survived by five of her siblings: Rudy (Carmel), Dorothy (Raymond), Rae, Erwin (Elvera), and Trudi. Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 30 at 1pm at Eden Brook Funeral Home, and interment will follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.
