It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Malcolm. Predeceased by his parents Mike and Anne, older brothers Wayne and Adrian and brother-in-law Daniel Tkachuck. Malcolm is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years Cathy; son Dean (Tricia), daughter Windy (Doug) Skibinsky and Tara (Dave) Cleroux; sister Verna Tkachuck; grandchildren Colten, Clayten, Danielle, Justin, Keira, Marley and Benjamin; nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.
Malcolm was born in Lestock, SK and attended school in Raymore, SK. The family sold the farm and moved to Saskatoon in 1965, where he married his first wife Shannon and had two children, Dean and Windy. He worked at the Allan Potash Mine before moving to Regina and meeting his wife Cathy and having their child, Tara. Mel got sick with cancer in 1985 and was given 6 months to live, but being such a strong fighter he beat it and survived for many more years. He liked to spend his time playing country music, being outdoors, building numerous projects, landscaping, playing pool, and mostly being surrounded by friends and family. Beyond his accomplishments, Mel was everyone’s friend; people were drawn to him and his smile. He was a good neighbour and generous with his time and abilities. He’d help build or fix anything for you. Being disabled didn’t hinder his ability to do the things he enjoyed; he always found another way to get the job done. Mel handled his disability with courage, dignity, positivity, and grace.
He was our hero and will be greatly missed.
Everyone is welcome to attend his Celebration of Life which will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the G. Marconi Italian Club, 2148 Connaught Street, Regina, SK.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SaskAbilities and Spinal Cord Injury Sask.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Malcolm Kunitz April 3rd 1948 January 20th 2018.source
