Maimo Sauks was born on January 8 1923 in Tallinn, Estonia and died on June 14 2018 in Chatsworth, Ontario at the age of 95.
She was a registered nurse and experienced the horrors of war in Estonia. She worked in the United Nations displaced persons camps in Germany and worked at the Ontario Psychiatric Hospital in Penetanguishene. She raised her family in Germany, Penetanguishene, London and North Bay.
At her high school graduation she scored perfect in mathematics and incredulous teachers forced her to retake another version of the test in which she also scored 100%.
She loved quilting and gardening.
Her father was Joosep Nikolai Anderson (24/01/1898-18/04/1980), her mother Martha Laura Emilie Anderson ( Nee Tõnnus ) (4/09/1899-25/01/1929) and her sisters were Gerda Talve (20/03/26-24/06/2005) and Ingrid Pukk (28/11/1928-30/08/2017).
Her beloved husband for 69 years, Dr. Arvo Albert Erik Sauks MD, Diploma Psychiatry died on 18/09/ 2014.
She will be fondly remembered by her children Toomas Sauks (Jo Ann), Mati Sauks, and Tiina Payson (Paul) and her grandchildren Taavi Burns (Nicola Yap), Emilie Sauks(Jody MacEachern), Lisel Gitzel (Nathan), Katherine Haber (Ben), Bevan Sauks (Jenna Boden), Jennifer Sauks (Winston Sauks), and Maret Burns (Colin Berney).
She was very proud to be great-grandmother of Teo, Kylie, Brynn, Thomas, Jonas, Mirren and Oliver .
She leaves behind many relatives in Estonia.
